2nd Commisioned Project....and the BEST deck chair ever!! :)

Gooood day!! :)

How are you all? :) Im having a pretty nice day so far, applying for jobs, watching The Great British Bake Off <3 and doing a spot of vintage shopping :) Heavenly :)

Today I thought I would show you my latest craft project which was to make a cross stitch beach hut doorstop for my lovely friend Hannah. :) Ive made the sides of this one from some yummy Laura Ashley fabric which i think looks fab :)

Have you spotted my latest vintage purchase there? :) :) :) As I was popping to the post office with another job application today I spotted it outside of an antique shop across the road. I pretty much hopped, skipped and jumped across the road to buy it as it was love at first sight :) Its SUPER comfy too :) :)

I really love it so much :) and its perfect for this lovely summer weather we seem to be having at the moment :)

I hope you are all having a wonderful day :) If anyone else would like anything sewing (like a beach hut perhaps!!) please do send me an email :) :)

Big hugs and smiles :) :) :)

A fancy Portfolio :)

Hi everyone :) :)

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and that you are enjoying this lovely sunny weather :) :)

My job quest is still continuing  :) so today I decided I would make a fancy portfolio to carry around my smaller pieces of work, such as sketchbook pages and card designs. :)

I used some very yummy Laura Ashley fabric....

It was really easy to make this portfolio :) All I did was measure the size of the pages I wanted to fit in and multiplied this by 3. This told me how tall and wide to cut the fabric. I then cut one "page size" from each corner of the fabric. I then added felt pockets to each side of the fabric cross. I made a pocket in the middle of the fabric which I slipped some thick card in, to stiffen the portfolio. I then added some fabric ties and a button to make it extra fancy :)

Im really pleased with this fancy portfolio :) and I hope it will impress people at interviews :)

Thank you so much for looking :)

Big hugs and smiles :)

A little bit more from my degree collection :)

Hi again :)

I thought I'd show you a teeny bit more work from my degree collection; The secret life of birds.

As the designs were intended for fabrics which children and their parents could use to create their own special hideaways and play spaces, I decided it was important to demonstrate the different possible uses for the fabrics. I did this by using photographs from magazines which I then put my designs into using my beloved programme Photoshop. Below are some of the final examples, I was really pleased with the end result :)

May I Introduce........Royston!! :)

Hi Everyone :)

Im quite enjoying this autumnal weather today :) I've just been pottering around outside and it was really nice :) I need to go find a pile of leaves to leap in!! :)

Anyway, today I thought I would introduce you to my new little friend.....(drum roll please)....Royston!! :)

Please dont judge him because he is green :) He is a bit worried about this, but I like to tell him that he is special :) In fact green is my favourite colour, so that's why I picked him :)

I bought Royston for a mere pound from a carboot sale. I do love carboot sales these days...although I must admit that I used to be dragged round them by my boyfriend moaning and moaning that I'd rather be in bed!! :) (I do sometimes still moan...I wish car boot sales weren't so early!! I am quite lazy) :)

Anyway....as I was buying 6 yummy flowery saucers from a stall (also for a pound...BARGAIN!!) I spotted little Royston. He had a little tag on him saying "Please give me a home" My boyfriend G joked with the man behind the stall about Royston (he was still nameless at that time) :) about how we wouldnt be taking the strange green rabbit home :) However, as we kept walking around the stalls my mind was still with the little green rabbit with the poorly ear. After ALOT of umming and arring i trotted back to the stall (much to G's confusion-he didnt understand my need for the little green rabbit). SO i got back to the stall, clutching my purse and worrying about how much my rabbit love would be (he is a Sylvak rabbit so i was worried he would cost alot) However, I asked the nice man behind the stall and explained how I couldnt stop thinking about the little rabbit....and he was just a pound!! I thrust the pound into his hand and trotted back to G with the biggest smile on my face :)

"Lets call him Royston" said G...and that is now his name :)

This morning I decided I would treat my little Royston to a Liberty print shawl...and he does look rather dashing I must say :) and then I let him go out and play in the garden. :)

So that's the story of little Royston :) He's very proud of his Liberty print shawl!! :)

Thank you for stopping by!! :) I hope you are having a wonderful day :)

Big hugs and smiles :)

A Family Project :) :)

Good Afternoon :)

I hope you are all having a lovely day :)

Today I thought I'd share with you a little family project I have been working on with my Mum and Dad. :)

Years ago, my Great Uncle Frank gave my Mum and Dad a brown wooden rocking chair. :) It was really quite old and wasnt looking in the best if shape. :) It has lived in our garage for a long while, until this summer my mum decided to do it up :) To give it a lovely New England style look, Mum painted it in white.

Mum asked me to make a seat pad for the rocking chair, to make it more comfy :) So we picked a lovely print oil cloth fabric with tea cups from. We bought it in Laura Ashley and it really was the perfect fabric choice. :)

The rocking chair lives on our patio and it looks really nice :) Now we just need a sunny day so we can actually go outside and sit on it!! :) :)

Thank you so much for looking!! :)

Big hugs and smiles :) :)

Thank you so much for looking :) I hope you all have a lovely evening. Im looking forward to tonight because The Great British Bake Off  is on TV and that is one of the highlights of my week!! :) :) (Im a 50s housewife at heart!!) :) :) :)

The Job Hunt :)

Hi everyone :)

I hope you are all having a nice day :)

I am currently searching for a job :) Whilst applying for numerous jobs I have come to the conclusion that I don't really like applying for jobs by email. They aren't very personal and you cant put alot of attention to detail into them. Plus it's hard to make them stand out. I have therefore decided to start to create some little packs to post off to companies incase they have any jobs going :)

I thought I'd show you some pictures of what I am going to send, in case it inspires any more job hunters out there!! :)

Hopefully that might inspire some more job hunters :) If anyone reading this knows of any design, craft or product development jobs going then I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know :)

Thank you so much for reading :)

I hope you are all having a lovely day :)

Big hugs and smiles :)

A Little Baby Bird :)

Good Morning :)

Today I hought I would introduce you to little Bessie :) A little baby bird friend :) I've made quite a few of these baby birds recently for human babies :)  The pattern for Bessie came from a craft book I have called "Little Birds", which is a fab book for me and my bird love!! :)

Little Bessie is quite shy and loves to play hide and seek :) She is also partial to a cup of mint tea and some custard creams :)

I hope you are having a beautiful day :)

Cosy Cushions!! :)

Hi there :)

Im very excited to report that for the first time in a while i have actually managed to find the time to make a few things for myself!! :) :) :) I thought I'd try to make myself a few things before the christmas crafting begins!! :) :)

So this week I have been making myself some cushions :)

Cushion 1: An Up-cycled cushion :)
My boyfriend very kindly bought me a crochetted, round cushion cover, which I loved because it looks like a doily and I have a bit of a thing for doilies!! :) However, I decided I wanted to do-up this antique shop find. :) So, what I did was make my own cushion pad out of some lovely flowery ikea fabric, which I could then slot inside the "doily-cushion". I think it looks really cute because you can see the flowery fabric through the holes in the crochet :) :) :)
I also sewed some Cath Kidston flower buttons onto the doily, to make it even more lovely :)

Im going to put this cushion into my car to fill it with even more old lady goodness :) :) :) (i like to fill my car with doilies and flowery things) :)

Cushion 2: A Patriotic Tapestry Cushion:
I started this cushion just after Christmas!! :) The tapestry design is from a Cath Kidston book I got for Christmas :) It took me a long while to make but im really proud of the finished result and it feels really nice!! :)

Thank you so much for looking!! I hope you have a lovely day :)

Big hugs and smiles :)
